The National Youth Brass Band (NYBB) is the musical equivalent of the Junior All Blacks – the country’s finest young players. The NYBB auditions annually to find New Zealand’s most talented young brass and percussion musicians to attend a summer school of tuition and training at the hands of the country’s leading instrumentalists. Hear this talented group play at one of three concerts in January 2018
The National Youth Band will assemble in Nelson in January 2018 for their annual residential school. Members of the Band are all under 23 years of age and selected from nationwide auditions of young band members from community based brass bands. During their week at Nelson they will be tutored by New Zealand’s leading brass instrumentalists under the Musical Direction of David Bremner – the NZSO’s principal trombonist. They will be joined by guest soloist Kyle Lawson, principal cornet with Australasian champion band Wellington Brass, and formerly principal cornet with the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick band in England.
